A logo that is too small goes unnoticed, and one that is too big looks like fancy dress. Here are the sizes and placements we recommend in our workshop, for a professional result first time.

The sizes that work (adult)

Placement Recommended width Position
Heart (left chest) 7 to 10 cm about 15 to 20 cm below the shoulder
Centred front 20 to 28 cm top of the design 7-10 cm below the collar
Back 25 to 30 cm top of the design 8-12 cm below the collar
Nape 6 to 8 cm just below the collar, on the back
Sleeve 5 to 8 cm on the upper sleeve

For children’s clothing, reduce by about a third. For an oversize T-shirt, you can enlarge the back design by a few centimetres.

Which placement for which use?

  • Company, work clothes: logo on the heart side, and the name or phone number on the back (see our advice for construction trades and craftspeople).
  • Brand, merch: small logo on the front and large design on the back, or a large centred design on the front.
  • Club, team: club logo at the heart, name and number on the back (see flock printing).
  • Event, hen party: a large text on the back, readable from afar, and a small nod on the front.

On other textiles

  • Sweatshirt and hoodie: same sizes as the T-shirt; on a hoodie, place the front design above the pocket. On a zip hoodie, the logo goes on the heart side and the large design on the back.
  • Cap: 6 to 10 cm wide on the front.
  • Tote bag: up to about 25 cm wide on the front face.
  • Polo shirt: 7 to 9 cm on the heart side, ideally in embroidery.

Our tips

  • Print your logo on an A4 sheet at the right size and lay it on a T-shirt: you will see straight away if it is too big.
  • Text must stay legible: at least 1 to 2 cm letter height for a small text, more for a text read from afar.
  • In our tool, you move and enlarge the design live: the preview shows the real result.
